The Mannerisms of Faith
- Faith is the only way to live the Christian life; there is no alternative. You need a personal level of faith to endure in order to receive what the Lord has promised you (Habakkuk 2:2-5, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38; 11:6).
- If faith is important to our lives as Christians and is the major determinant of our survival in the kingdom, then we must understand the mannerisms, attributes, and distinguishing features of faith. Faith can be seen. Jesus saw the expressions of the mannerism of faith in the centurion whose servant was lying at home paralysed, dreadfully tormented, and he received healing for his servant according to his faith (Matthew 8:5-13, Luke 5:17-20, Galatians 3:7- 9).
- One of the mannerisms of faith is its habitation. Therefore, the habitation of faith is in its trusting heart. In other words, a trusting heart is the habitation of faith. If we cannot trust like a little child, then faith cannot dwell in our hearts (Romans 10:6-8, Proverbs 3:5).
- Another mannerism of faith is the language of faith. Just as a person’s language can distinguish him or her from others, in like manner, faith has language or speech. (Judges 12:4- 6, Mark 14:66-70).
- When God gives you a pure language, the first manifestation of it is that you begin to call on the name of the Lord (Zephaniah 3:9). The beginning of the journey of a Christian’s life is salvation. Therefore, without faith, we could not have been saved, and we cannot get saved except by calling upon the name of the Lord.
- The first language of faith is prayer. A man of faith is a man of prayer. Therefore, if we stop praying, it is a sign that we do not have faith. In other words, when we believe in God, we will persist in prayer (Luke 18:1-8).
- The second language of faith is praise. God has called us to proclaim His praises at all times, regardless of circumstances and situations (1 Peter 2:9, Isaiah 54:1, Acts 16:20- 34). The third language of faith is the word of confession. In other words, you must keep confessing the word the Lord has given to you from time to time, even when it does not make sense to the natural mind (Romans 10:9-10).
