Freedom
I am a huge fan of certain Pharrell Williams’ creations, and my most recent favorite is the ‘Freedom’ video. I like the connection between pictures and words. The magic that explodes in your eyes and ears. All through the video, if you look closely, it is easy to see that Pharrell speaks of the freedom of the mind.
The mind; the high seat of judgement. The gates of the soul. Where our lives are busiest. Where the past, the present and future transact in a maddening mosaic. Where wisdom is calling, and where folly is lurking — sneering. And everyday we decide whose voice we will follow. We choose to be wise, or to remain fools.
Everyday, we choose… When we hold on to the puppeteering strings of old wounds. When we lie within the ruins of broken truces. When we live among the corpses of dead alliances. We shortchange ourselves. We exchange sweet tranquility for turmoil. We trade our peace of mind for turbulence of soul.
If we only can imagine the transformation that awaits us, when we suddenly shut out the sneers of folly, and heed the cry of wisdom. What relief. What joy. The peace that comes with forgiveness. The quiet serene that fills us as we forget and let go. The calm, the restfulness for our souls, as we begin life anew in a place free of debris and the dregs of the past.
We rise. Our spirits soar upon the wings of exuberance. Pizzazz! Our minds loose from the hooks of lying deceit. We strut with confidence. We advance without restraint. We progress without hindrance. We are free indeed.
Proverbs 1:20-22
Wisdom cries out in the street; she raises her voice in the public squares. She calls out at the busiest part of the noisy streets, and at the entrance to the gates of the city she utters her words: “You naive ones, how long will you love naivete? And how long will scoffers delight in scoffing or fools hate knowledge?” — ISV
