Legacy

footprintstop
Of all the words, phrases and phenomena that confront us in a day; finances, relationship, family, economy, social status, Facebook post, hashtag, twitter mention, update-profile-picture, fuel price, budgetary allocations, diaspora, instablog, fashion, android, shopping, accommodation, etc. The list is endless.

These words move us and shape us, directing the course of our lives like the buttons on a remote control. But how about legacy? How about that? Does hearing it mean anything to you? Does it stir you up, tingle you, shake you up, irritate you, confuse you or propel you to live differently?

Have you given a thought to what you are adding to the human race? How you are affecting the next generation? What change are you influencing? What vision are your fostering? What future are you birthing? What is your legacy?

Or are you just going to exit without a mark? Vamoose without an impact. Disappear like you never happened. What is it going to be: How will you be remembered? What will be said of you after you leave? (After you leave that job, that city, that relationship, and ultimately this life…)

What example will your children carry on? What trail would be etched with your footprint? Who is going to succeed you and why, and for what purpose? What songs would be sung in your memory? What lyrics would be written at your remembrance? What music would be composed to celebrate your many good works?

Do you have a legacy that moves you to shape the future?

Proverbs 22:1
A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. — NIV

Ecclesiastes 7:1
A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. — NIV
