“8” is The secret to great wealth not Timbuktu
What better way to get rich than to follow in the footsteps of the richest man that ever lived? Why waste time reinventing the wheel? Why burn when you can chill? Only a fool will choose to mine his own gold when he can negotiate with a goldsmith!
❡Send a message to Mary! But don’t tell her I’m in jail. Tell her I’ve gone to Timbuktu. Tell her I’m searching for gold. You can tell her I’ve gone to the ends of the earth but don’t tell her I’m in jail❡
I’m sure you’ve heard that song before. A man laments in a dirge for his lover because he finds himself in jail whilst searching for riches, but he cannot let his lover know that he has failed; failed to get rich and failed to be her man.
Truth be told, that guy did go to Timbuktu alright! Oh yes, he did. And that was why he wound up in jail. Half the time, people who go searching for gold wind up with misfortune. Yet there is a wise saying that’s been long told about the secrets to acquiring wealth. How about we try that? What is this secret?
Eight Investments are better than Seven, says the richest man the world will ever know!
“Invest what you have, because after a while you will get a return. Invest in seven ventures, yes, also in eight. There are some things you can be sure of: if the clouds are full of rain, then they will pour water on the earth. There are some things you can’t be sure of… but you must take a chance.”
These are the words of King Solomon the great; the richest and wisest of all men. King Solomon is speaking of workmanship not showmanship. And not machismo either; I believe wealth has more to do with great intuition than testosterone. I’ll like to think he is talking about being enterprising. Not multitasking — women take note. But a keen eye for good investments. Knowing what would prosper and knowing when to take a chance on it.
He is also saying, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify. Invest in seven, and also in eight. Why? Because you don’t know which will make you rich, or maybe everything you do will be successful. Invest what you have in different things, you do not know what disaster might happen.
So begin planting early; don’t wait till you are forty and broke and miserable. Start out early and don’t stop until evening; Be productive in business for as long as you are strong and agile. You must take a chance. Don’t wait for perfect weather before you plant your seeds; or you will never invest. If you keep being afraid to try, you will be poor. And if you’d rather try shortcuts like Timbuktu… you might end up in jail like Mary’s beau above.
So what’s it gonna be? Today’s economy provides tremendous opportunities to invest. Businesses that thrive by the second. Good money for your wise labour! Don’t get tied down in that 9 to 5 job of yours. Try some new tricks. Okay let’s not call them tricks, let’s call them secrets, that’s more fitting. So try some of Solomon’s secrets. There must be something you can do that wouldn’t require you leaving your job immediately.
You can invest in real estate, agriculture, crude oil, and even in gold. There are certain bullion businesses that require just 5,000 dollars to get started. No trips to Timbuktu required. I’m sure if you do your research well enough, you will find seven great ventures and who knows, you just might find eight! And then you’re made. Now wouldn’t that be great?
Ecclesiastes 11: 1-2
Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return. Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land. – NIV
